Why Choose Valley Driver Training?

Driving has become such an important part of society that it is almost impossible to imagine life without an automobile.  Cars affect every aspect of our modern society.  They are how we get around to do groceries, deliver goods,  get to work and school, go on holidays with.  Cars are one of the most used and relied upon technologies that man has created. Still there are people out there that don’t respect cars and laws and as a result crashes occur and injuries and death happen.  We feel that education is the way to curb these problems.  The better informed and educated people are the less likely that injuries and fatalities will occur on our road ways.

We have decided to create this analysis about our company not to brag about our accomplishments but, rather to use it as an information package to help you, the consumer, make a better informed decision about which driving school you would like to send your novice driver to.  Research into this area will ensure that you are making a good choice and will give you peace of mind when it finally comes time to give up the car keys for the first time to your newly licensed driver.  We would encourage you to call other driving schools before making a decision and compare what is out there with our company.

History

Valley Driver Training was started in 1999 by the owner Jamie Fitchett. Jamie’s back ground is in Driver training in both the cars and the trucks.

Jamie has had extensive in car training with different companies prior to opening Valley Driver Training.

In the Trucks Jamie worked for construction companies as well as Pro North Transportation in North Bay for approximatly10 years. Approximately 6 of those years he was also a transport driver trainer.
(As far as we know he still holds the record for being the youngest transport driver trainer in Canada at 21 years of age).

In 1999, Jamie decided that he would open a driving school in Val Caron. Jamie’s favorite saying has always been “It is not about quantity it is about Quality.” And Quality has been the cornerstone of Valley Driver Training’s Success since it first began. In the year 2000 we began to get students from Sudbury traveling to Val Caron for our Beginner Driving course so we decided to bring our course to Sudbury. We are proud to say that both locations has continually grown.

Our most recent Growth has been the addition of the Transport division. In order to maintain the level of quality that our customers have come to expect from us we have become members of the Transport Training schools Association (TTSAO). Therefore we are able to offer a two certificated course. One certificate from Valley Driver Training (recognition that you have taken a course that is approved by the Private Career College) and one from the TTSAO (recognition that the course you have taken has a set standard of quality and is recognized by insurance Companies.)

“It is not about quantity it is about Quality.”

The Course

The provincial standard for a beginner driver education course is 20 hours of classroom time 10 hours of home link and 10 hours of in car.

Some of the topics we teach are:
  • Defensive Driving
  • Hazard awareness
  • Fuel efficiency
  • How to maintain a car
  • Buying a car (the expenses of owning a car)

The course is very hands on and practical. We try to create a light and humorous learning atmosphere by using a variety of teaching techniques.  For example we use videos, white boards, overheads, handouts, open book tests, field trips and a host of other methods to get our message across in a way that is easy to understand and retain.

In order to maintain our status as a Ministry Approved Course Provider so that our customers will receive a:
  • 4 month reduction in wait time to get your G2
  • and an insurance discount,

We must constantly and thoroughly monitor our paperwork and evaluate our instructor’s performance.

    Service

At Valley Driver Training we offer a course that is flexible to meet the needs of our student’s busy schedules.
    - The 20 hours of in class time can be done on weekends/ weeknights/ and weekdays(holidays)
    - 10 hours of home links
    - The 10 hours of drive time is done in an instructors vehicle   (1 on1 training)
    - Each student will be given an instructor (or may request one) for the duration of their drive time.
Note: In the event that a student does not get along with the instructor the student may request a new instructor.

We understand that driving is a privilege and that the new drivers of today need the skills that will keep them safe when driving on North America’s busy Highways

  •
    Community Involvement

Since Valley Driver Training has been in existence, community involvement has been at the top of our priority list.  During the past 6 years we have given away more than 100 Driving Courses to different groups and events in Sudbury.  We have donated a large portion of these courses to CJTK and Z103 for their own promotional and fund raising events.  We have in the past donated courses to all 17 of Sudbury’s secondary schools for different fund raising events that the schools have had.

Over the years we have sponsored hockey players, school teams, dis-advantaged families, the homeless shelters, food banks and a host of other organizations.  We feel very compelled to connect with our community and help out where we can.

    Specializing in SENIORS

We have a proven history in our ability to be able to assist seniors during the process of trying to obtain or re-obtain their license after a crash or physical or mental disabilities have left them unable to drive.  We work directly with the physiotherapists at Laurentian Hospital to help them assess the abilities of physical or mentally disabled persons trying to re-obtain their drivers license.  We feel very privileged to have the opportunity to try to help senior drivers maintain their independence and lifestyle that they have grown so accustomed to.

MTO and Drive Test Center Partnership

We have had the opportunity to build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Ministry of Transportation and the Drive Test Center to ensure that we are putting safe drivers on the roads.  We fully understand the duties and responsibilities that these two organizations have and as a result we have frequent meetings to ensure that we are doing our duties to the best of our abilities to ensure that the safest drivers are being put on the road.
